Abstract

According to the staff of the Department of Pediatrics No. 1 of Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education (NMAPO) over the past 20 years, there has been an increase in the number of hospitalizations of children with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). However, in Ukraine there is no single center for monitoring children with IBD, so the collection of statistical data is a rather difficult problem. This was facilitated by the lack of a unified approach to diagnosis. The article provides updated recommendations of the ECCO and ESPGHAN (2018) on the classification of IBD in children, their diagnosis algorithm using the criteria of PIBD classes. Statistical data on registration of IBD in children at the pediatric department of National Children's Specialized Hospital «OKHMATDYT» are provided. The given clinical case is an example of applying the criteria for differential diagnosis of various forms of IBD in children, assessing severity and provides a management scheme for patients with this pathology.
Conclusions: Updated recommendations of the ECCO and ESPGHAN facilitate the differential diagnosis of various types of IBD, provide a clear monitoring scheme for children with this pathology, improve treatment outcomes and the quality of life of small patients.
